A new Connect Community is available for men
working in Early Childhood Education. This community is designed to
help and support males working in Early Childhood Education in Western
Australia. The community is intended as an open resource of support and

PGWA Aboriginal Play and Learning Forum
The 2016 forum reflects on how we can work in ways that value parents and carers as a child’s first teacher. It
looks at the importance of families and their communities in raising
healthy confident children and how we need to work and learn together to
get children ready for school. The day will also
share the journeys of people who have graduated from Tertiary studies,
who currently attend school and who are getting children ready for
school.

Harmony Day at Sawyers Valley PS
Yesterday the Early Years team celebrated multiculturalism and
difference by asking the children to trace, cut out and decorate their
hands. We assembled the hands to make a Harmony Day Tree. The children
reflected on how the tree looked so interesting and beautiful because
all of the hands were different and were guided to make some parallels
with the importance of individuality and difference in groups of people.
We brainstormed their responses to the sentence starter "Many different
hands make..."

TOPIC: Early Years Updates and Sharing
We will be sharing some updates on Phase 2 of the WA Curriculum and new resources that are available to support teaching, learning and development in the Early Years.
Bring along a description of a sensory experience or provocation that you have found to be engaging in your learning environment. Please type and print out some copies (10-15) so that everyone can take a resource home with them. A proforma for this can be found in the Library.
You can register for this event using the IPL Online Calendar. If you do this it will be recorded for TRB registration purposes. Participants can also sign in on the day.

Our second SHWACC (previously SHACC) workshop for 2016 will be held on :

Venue: Greenmount Primary School (follow the signs to the library)

focus for this session will be on developing school HASS and Science
operational plans. Please bring along your school's operational plans
(completed or works in progress), suggestions for developing operational
