Marvellous Mrs Ewen

In Term 1 we looked at “The Past in the Present” and the children were fascinated by the stories told by Mrs Ewen about her childhood. So the children posed some questions to our “Marvellous Mrs Ewen” and interviewed her using the questions. They needed to write the responses and they made a small booklet. The booklet has a wonderful portrait completed by each child.

The Historical Skills and Understandings covered were:
  • The history of a significant person,
  • The impact of changing technology on people’s lives (at home and in the ways they worked, travelled, communicated, and played in the past)
The Historical Skills taught were:
  • Pose questions about the past using sources provided
  • Explore a range of sources about the past.
  • Use a range of communication forms (oral, graphic, written, role play) and digital technologies
